Jeff Zaniker Nautilus Award
To honor the memory of Jeff Zaniker, IN Cure of MS created the Jeff Zaniker Nautilus Award. Jeff Zaniker lived with Multiple Sclerosis and known for his strength to overcome adversity while inspiring others to auction. He refused to allow MS to restrict and define his life. Like the nautilus, he expanded his journey with new experiences. The recipient of the award is identified as making a difference for those living with MS.

Jeff Zaniker, in memory
In 2019 the inaugural Jeff Zaniker Nautilus Award was presented in memory of Jeff Zaniker at the IN Cure of MS Gala (A MidSummer Night's Dream to Cure MS). The award honored Jeff Zaniker for his strength to overcome adversity while inspiring others to action. He refused to allow MS to restrict his life. Like the nautilus, he expanded his journey with new experiences. Each year, IN Cure of MS will honor an individual or group in honor of Jeff's memory.
2021 Recipient
Halpern Family
Every year, the Halpern family holds the largest MS Fundraiser to support family matriarch Donna Halpern's journey with MS.
The Albert's MS Auction was originally held at Albert's Diamond Jewelers in Schererville, IN. They quickly outgrew the space now host the event at the Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond, IN. In 2018, the Halpern family raised $309,000 for the National MS Society and became the #1 Do It Yourself Fundraiser. Over the 20 years of fundraising, the family has passed the $2 million mark.
2022 Recipient
Dr. David Mattson
Dr. Mattson specializes in neurology at IU Health. Dr. Mattson is a professor of neurology and the director of the Indiana University Multiple Sclerosis Center. He earned his medical degree at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Then, he completed his residency at the University of Pennsylvania and a fellowship at National Institute of Health. His dedication to patients with Multiple Sclerosis and his perseverance in research is making a difference to those in our community.
2023 Recipient
Lance Oxley
Lance Oxley was officially diagnosed with Progressive Multiple Sclerosis in 2000. He recently retired as Sr Director of Gatorade Manufacturing after 35 years. In 2005, he was a founding member of EnAble, a PepsiCo employee resource group to support those with disabilities, caregivers and allies and was awarded the PepsiCo Chairman’s Award and the Harvey C Russell Inclusion & Diversity Award. His wife, Susan, started and is the captain of their Walk MS team in 2005. Their team has been fundraising leaders. Lance has been a NMSS local trustee since 2015.

2024 Recipient
Pam Grimes
Pam Grimes has not allowed her MS diagnosis to keep her down. She has been living with MS for over 30 years and it has caused her to lose the ability to walk. A native to Terre Haute, Pam has been an active advocate and fundraiser for the National MS Society. She uses her creativity and network to be a top fundraiser to support those living with MS. She is a mom, a grandmother, and a fighter.

Sylvia Kemp
Sylvia is more than a warrior—she is a true champion. Her tireless advocacy, leadership, and passion for finding a cure have made her one of the top fundraisers for MS research in Indianapolis. Whether she’s rallying a team, organizing events, or sharing her story to raise awareness, Sylvia’s impact is profound and lasting.
